The St Chad Gospels is predominately a Vulgate version of the gospels (St Jerome's late fourth-century translation of the Bible into the common Latin of the day). However, it contains Vetus Latina (Older Latin) recensions. Therefore, the St Chad Gospels is considered a mixed Latin text. The transcription of the St Chad Gospels was completed by Bill Endres and Whitney Whitaker.

The provided English version is the Douay-Rheims translation of the Vulgate (late sixteenth century). It is generously provided by Vulgate.Org, which is also currently working to collate and transcribe all extant ancient manuscripts of the Vulgate and Old Latin Bible, making them available at Vulgate.Net.
