Creative Common Downloads - St Chad Gospels

The Chapter of Lichfield Cathedgral granted Creative Commons rights for the multispectral imaging of the St Chad Gospels (2010). This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 England and Wales License. Lichfield Cathedral prefers this license because it recognizes the care taken of the St Chad Gospels by the community of St Teilo's Church in Llandeilo Fawr, Wales, when Gelhi traded his best horse to save this great gospel-book.

In 2010, the Chapter of Licfheild Cathedral granted me a CC license, something most publicly funded libraries and museums were not as yet willing to do. Keep in mind, the Cathedral receives NO State funding. While it provides these images free of charge, it faces many challenges in preserving the St Chad Gospels. Located in the English Midlands, although beautiful, the Cathedral does not benefit from the tourist traffic that a major city provides. Therefore, I invite you to donate.

Digital Recoveries for Nine Pages: pages 90. 91, 112, 113, 141, 157, 192, 193, and 204.

3D Renderings: each zipped file includes three files to render a 3D model. I will continue to add more as finalize them. Best free software for PC and Mac to view them is Meshlab.

Boethius - Aristotelis in Categoriis: four pages, may have served as the cover for the manuscript at one time.

Multispectral Images (MSI) (components on right-hand side): frequencies include 365nm, 450nm, 465nm, 505nm, 535nm, 592nm, 625nm, 638nm, 700nm, 730nm, 780nm, 850, 940nm (ultraviolet to infrared). However, conservation required that not all pages have an ultraviolet (365nm) image.

Images can be downloaded individually or as a bundle of all the multispectral images for 4 pages (7-zip file, extension .7z). Free software is available to extract them, including 7-Zip for PCs and Keka for Macs.

Once a link clicked, a page on the Open Science Framework will open. A download button (blue with white letters) will appear on the right-hand side of your screen. Click it to download the highlighed file. For further files, scroll through the files in the folder and click on any of them to download.
